While our community grapples with the recent Nippon Dynawave implosion, organized Labor is stepping up to help workers and families impacted by the tragedy.
The Cowlitz Wahkiakum Central Labor Council and the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers (AWPPW) have come together to establish a fund at the Lower Columbia Longshoremen's Federal Credit Union that will provide support to families struggling with financial burdens caused by the implosion.
LCLFCU members can transfer funds directly from their accounts to this fund. Donations can also be made at Fibre Federal Credit Union and Red Canoe Credit Union branches.
Nonmembers can make contributions at LCLFCU's main branch (629 14th Ave, Longview, WA 98632 - click here for a map) or they can mail a check to
The Cowlitz Wahkiakum Central Labor Council
1145 Commerce Ave.
Longview, WA 98632
Donations can also be made to @cwclcfamilysupport through Venmo.

This Venmo and bank account was created by the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Central Labor Council exclusively for donations to support those impacted by the tragedy at Nippon on May 26, 2026. All funds will be deposited into the account at the Lower Columbia Longshoreman’s Credit Union. They will then be turned over to AWPPW, who will administer the process for making sure your donation gets to those in need.
If you want your donation to be tax deductible, the United Way of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties has set up a donation page. 100% of designated donations will be distributed directly to the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Central Labor Council's Nippon Fund to support those impacted by this tragedy, and no administrative fees are being charged by United Way.
You can make a tax-deductible donation online by clicking here (please note"Nippon Fund" in the notes section) or by mailing a check to
